1. Go to Teacher's Domain
2. Click on "Register Now" and complete the form.3. Go to Victoria's Tour
4. Go through Victoria's immigration experience.5. Write a paragraph letter to Victoria detailing your thoughts about her experience. Underline 5 adjectives, 3 adverbs, and make sure you capitalize proper nouns!

3. Type in any and all words you think of when you hear, read or say the word immigration.

Step 2 November 10, 2014
1. Go to Scholastic Online
2. Read about Asya.
  • What pull factor brought her to the United States? Where did she emigrate?
  • What is the date of Christmas in her country? What is a new holiday for her?
  • Do you think she will go back to her native country or stay in the United States?
3. Read about Vandi
  • What was the push factor for his family? Where did they move first?
  • What does Vandi think about American schools?
  • Contrast Vandi's home in Liberia to his house in the United States.
  • What is a staple in his diet? Does your family also eat that food?
  • Compare and contrast the holidays he discusses

4. Read about the other children.
  • Can you relate to anything in their stories? If yes, what do you relate to?
  • Do you think they are happy about immigrating here? How do you know?
  • What do the children miss the most?



Step 3 November 10, 2014

1. Go to Ellis Island Tour
2. Take the tour of Ellis Island.
3. Complete the scavenger hunt at each stop.
